Self-organized Criticality

In nature one finds power-law behaviour which is expected only at criticality. How the dynamics of the system takes itself to criticality is the subject of self-organized criticality

NeuroPhysics

Neurons have dynamics and as network the have very interesting properties. They show power law behaviour and hence they may be a candidate for Self-organized critical systems.

Surface growth

Surfaces and interfaces are very important in our lives. The evolution and growths of surfaces show long-range order and hence the systems are critical.

EconoPhysics

The rules that economic system obey are of great interest. Especially, the heavy tails of distribution function of log-returns have non-trivial explanations.
